An involved member of her community, Maral Cavner began her college education at Missouri State University in Springfield. An excellent student, she participated in the school’s dual enrollment program, which allowed her to complete multiple college level courses while finishing her final two years in high school. Upon graduating high school, Maral Cavner was admitted into Emory University and relocated to Atlanta, Georgia to study sociology. She was named to the dean’s list for three consecutive years and later earned her bachelor of arts in May of 2013.

In her spare time, Maral Cavner sits on the board of Route 66 No-Kill Shelter, an organization she helped establish in 2012. In addition, she serves as an executive board member for Teen Challenge. Ms. Cavner joined the organization in April of 2011 and helps young adults learn career skills through mentorship and training. Other community groups she previously volunteered for include Care to Learn, Missouri Public Affairs Academy, and Atlanta International School.
